The following training courses are the dedicated courses developed specifically for Feller Buncher Operators, Skidder Operators, Process Operators, Hydraulic Log Loader Operators, Forwarder Operator and Hoe Chucker Operators.

1138 – Winch Assist

1027 – Describe Hazards and Vehicle Dynamics Related to Operating Light Trucks (Optional)

1028 – Describe and Operate Chainsaw (Optional)

Other Training – Ensure every new worker has a basic understanding of forestry work and worksite safety with Basic Forest Worker Training or elevate knowledge with optional General Forestry Courses like Chainsaw Operation or Resource Road Training.


There are two options for competency training:

1. Online training. This option is tracked and a certificate of completion is issued. To enrol in online training, submit a completed enrollment form.

2. Choose to Download the Learning Resources below. By choosing this option, the training will not be tracked and a certificate will not be issued.

  • 1138 - Winch Assist

    This course will allow you to demonstrate knowledge of:
    - Planning and layout considerations
    - Best practices when using winch assist
    - Features of winch assist
    - Wire rope and anchors

  • 1027 - Describe Hazards and Vehicle Dynamics Related to Operating Light Trucks

    This course will allow you to demonstrate knowledge of:
    - Hazards and distractions

  • 1028 - Describe and Operate Chainsaw
