What information do we gather and how is it used?
The Council collects information from our users at several different points on this web site: Users to the public areas of the Council’s web site browse anonymously. However, the Council web server does collect aggregate data, such as number of access attempts by page. The Council may collect information ("Personal Information") from you before allowing access to certain resources and personalization features on the site, or to order products and services. Generally, when Personal Information is collected, it is used by the Council to improve web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services. The Council does not share Personal Information with any third parties except that the Council may share such information with its subsidiaries and affiliated organizations. Third party vendors providing services in connection with this web site may have access to Personal Information. It is the Council’s policy to require such vendors to hold Personal Information in strict confidence.
Cookies are files that contain information created by a web server that can be stored on your machine for use either during a particular session ("session" cookie) or for future use ("persistent" cookie). The Council uses both session and persistent cookies to facilitate, track and limit automated activity, and to assist in the collection of site visitation statistics. Cookies are not used to disseminate significant information about users over the Internet. If you decline the attachment of any cookie, you may not have access to the full benefits of the web site.
Like most standard web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the Council is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.

Opting Out and Correcting Personal Information
If a users personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, email our Customer Support at firstname.lastname@example.org or click the "Contact Us" link on this web site in order to inform the Council of the changes.
Notification of Changes
If, however, we are going to use users’ Personal Information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their Personal Information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their Personal Information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
