Safety Alert
A contractor was welding some head rig in-feed jump chains when a fire started underneath the in-feed chains.
The assigned fire watcher and welder were unable to extinguish the fire from a safe location. They changed position to get a better angle but the new position put them at risk for a 12 – 15 foot fall into the conveyor below. Neither of them were wearing fall protection at the time.
