To resolve edger feed stops, the sawmill edger operator called for supervisor assistance. A short wait would be required, and this was communicated via radio. The operator decided to manually clean the blocked photocell himself.
The operator did not lockout any of the equipment but relied on operating controls being turned off. This did not shut off the hydraulics or control power to the photocell he was clearing.
