PUBLIC AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT

Expected warm weekend in BC creating a higher risk of avalanche activity.

Back-country users across Western Canada are being warned to expect dangerous avalanche conditions as winter transitions to spring and temperatures dramatically rise in the coming days throughout BC.
 
A Special Public Avalanche Warning (SPAW) has been issued by Avalanche Canada and will remain in effect through Monday, May 1, 2023.
 
Workers and recreation seekers are being advised to leave a wide margin for error during this seasonal transition.
 
Avalanche Canada warns that each day of warm air will increase the level of danger that currently exists for all mountainous regions across the west.
 
Avalanche Canada advises – “Stick to simple, low angle terrain and avoid all overhead avalanche hazards”.
