National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30, 2022, marks the annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation; a day enacted to remember and honour the lives lost, the Survivors and those forever impacted by the residential school system in Canada.

On this day …. wear ORANGE, be present, leave space for the voices and honour the lives lost, the Survivors and those forever impacted by the residential school system in Canada.

Learn, Honour … Listen
Reflect, Respect … Listen
Acknowledge, Support … Listen
Advocate, Encourage … Listen
Attend, March … Listen

BCFSC stands with the survivors, their families and communities and shares in learning and commemorating this complex and meaningful day as we continue to navigate and build upon strengthening our bonds working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across BC.

We acknowledge – we believe – we support … not just today — every day.

Get involved – visit our National Day for Truth and Recognition resource page for information and links to commemorate this significant day.

No matter how you choose to observe the day, we can all contribute toward a better future by acknowledging this tragic part of Canadian history — and its ongoing impact in our communities by using this day to focus on education, reflection and listening.
