Training requirements for SAFE and COR Certification

Small Employers: SEBASE, ISEBASE or IOO Companies

Small employers wanting to be SAFE and/or COR Certified are required to train a permenant employee, or an owner of the company, to be the company's internal auditor.  There is no auditor refresher training requirement to maintain SAFE Certification.  COR has auditor refresher training requirements.

Small employers wanting a COR rebate are required to train a permanent employee or owner of the company before audits are submitted. This person must complete refresher training every three years and perform at least two audits every three years in order to keep their auditor eligibility. If an auditor loses their eligibility they, or another permanent employee, must retake their initial training.

Large Employers:  BASE Companies

There is no mandatory training requirement for larger employers. Certification and re-certification audits must be performed by a BCFSC certified BASE external auditor.  Maintenance audits may be performed by either a BCFSC certified BASE external auditor, or a permanent employee of the company who has completed the BASE Internal Auditor training course.
