A log truck driver damaged the air lines while loading his trailer. He drove down the road to a wide spot where he could pull over and be in the clear from other traffic.

While attempting repairs, he fell from the truck, injuring his head, chest and rib cage. The driver was found lying unconscious behind his rig by another truck driver and was subsequently airlifted to hospital for treatment.

Learnings and Suggestions: 

• Advise others by radio that you are leaving your vehicle to attempt a repair

• Complete those repairs in the company of others

• If possible, leave log trailer on ground while working on it
