Log truck kicks up rock, hits windshield of other truck

Details of Incident / Close Call: 

A loaded log truck was waiting to turn onto the Adams West Forest Service Road northbound toward the log scales while an empty log truck leaving the mill heading south kicked up a rock.

The rock hit the windshield of the loaded truck that was waiting to turn and the windshield received a large crack but stayed intact. The driver was unharmed, although glass was found inside the cab.

Learnings and Suggestions: 

• Use caution at all times when travelling resource roads and expect the unexpected

• Log truck drivers must exercise diligence in inspecting their trucks and specifically their tires for rocks prior to getting back on the road
