Prequalification Renewal

In 2013 industry was asked to participate in the process of changing the prequaliication system presently known as SAFE Companies.

A discussion Paper was sent to industry explaining the changes which were being proposed.

Feedback

Industry was encouraged to provide feedback through a survey, telephone, email or in person at one of our town hall meetings which were held in 14 towns across BC's interior, coast and on Vancouver Island.

Proposed Audit Questions

The new audits were designed to be simpler, with fewer questions, and increased emphasis on executing safe work and safe work plans. In the proposed system the number of types of audits will be cut in half, down to two. A short audit was proposed for small Independent Owner Operators (IOO) and a combined audit for all other companies. (Consolidating BASE, ISEBASE and SEBASE audits into one.)

Proposed Auditor Guidelines

These are the guidelines that the BCFSC or external auditors would use to prepare the report to Council. They are included for full transparency and are not intended for any company to use themselves. They are very similar to the previous guidelines used for verification audits, so are expected to have little to no direct impact on a company.
