Once companies register in the SAFE Companies program, several timelines come into effect:
- Companies in the Independent category will remain registered in the program until a SAFE Companies Independent certification process is released by the Council. At that time, they will be notified, and will then have 6 months to complete their initial certification audit.
- Small companies must attend a Small Employer OHS Training course and submit their completed initial certification audit within 6 months of registration.
- Large companies must use an External Auditor to complete and submit their initial certification audit within 6 months of registration. If an audit has been scheduled and the External Auditor has filed a Notice of Audit Activities (NOAA) within the 6 month timeframe, the company’s SAFE Company Registration will remain active until the audit is complete, even if more than 6 months has passed since registration.
