Company Name:

Details of Incident / Close Call:

A truck driver was descending a hill when his steering wheel locked up. He slammed on his brakes and yanked on his steering wheel as he was heading towards the ditch. This made the steering wheel unlock and the truck driver continued on down the road.

He was then driving uphill when his steering wheel locked again. The truck driver again jerked on the steering wheel and it broke loose. He pulled over in a pullout when he was at the top of the hill to check out what was wrong.

The driver discovered that the clamp on the steering column was loose and slid lower down from where it should have been. He fixed the clamp by positioning it back where it was meant to be and continued on.
