Location:

Date of Incident / Close Call:
2013-05-16
Company Name:
Westwood Fibre Ltd.
Details of Incident / Close Call:

A Tigercat model 870C Faller Buncher cut off a 15 inch dry fir larch snag when it broke off about 22 feet up the tree (at 11” diameter). The top piece was 33 feet long.

The buncher was working on a 40% up slope.

The 33 foot long top struck the skylight roof of the machine and sheared off the half inch bolts that held the skylight in place (see photos in attached pdf).

The operator was showered with bark and branches, but was not injured.
