Special Avalanche Bulletin

Organization:
BC Forest Safety Council
Date:
March 16, 2013

"The CAC has issued the third special public avalanche warning in four weeks. The warning area includes all the mountains of interior BC—from Mackenzie and Chetwynd south to the US boundary, and west of the Alberta border to Pemberton and Hope. Very large, very destructive avalanches have occurred in the last few days. In some cases, these avalanches are overrunning low angle terrain, destroying mature timber, and extending traditional avalanche path boundaries." Read more at avalanche.ca

Check the avalanche conditions for the terrain you may be working in and if possible try to avoid high hazard areas. When working in the woods in the winter be prepared by carrying gear appropriate for the conditions. Safety doesn’t stop when you go off shift – check the reports before heading out sledding, ski touring or hiking in avalanche country.
