An employee went to work as per usual in the Middle Creek area near Terrace, BC and parked his vehicle in a pull-out along the road.

He left his vehicle unattended there throughout the day and when he returned, a snow slide had come down the embankment which hit the vehicle up to the passenger side window.

The worker walked back to his excavator and dug out the vehicle, checked for major damage and finding no mechanical damage he drove back to town.

Learnings and Suggestions:

Caution must be taken when parking near steep slopes, especially during the freeze thaw conditions of spring. Avoid parking or stopping in these areas where slides or rock and debris may fall.
