Company Name:

Details of Incident / Close Call:

A pickup was traveling in front of logging truck. Speed was approximately 65 to 70 kph. Road had not yet been plowed from snowfall/melt. Road was very slushy, turning to ice. Pickup hit slush/ice and pulled into the ditch.

Luckily, the driver was wearing his seatbelt, and suffered no injuries. Damage to pickup fairly extensive.

Learnings and Suggestions:

Poor road conditions, all season tires were still on pickup. Winter tires should have been installed. Road maintenance company had not expected winter conditions either, no winter crew had been hired yet.
