"Village Corner" Ashnola River Road Pavement Section
Date of Incident / Close Call:
Company Name:
Lusted Logging Ltd.
Details of Incident / Close Call:

Empty log truck and a vehicle going in the opposite direction met at the narrow 'village corner'.  The passenger vehicle skidded to the shoulder as it appeared there was not enough room to pass the log truck.  No contact was made between vehicles but both drivers were bothered by this incident.  Corner was widened a few years ago but surface has never been finished, left with large sharp rock.  Line painters on road Oct. 13/09 did not paint centre line on village corner!

Learnings and Suggestions:

Consult Ministry of Transportation regarding finishing road surface at the 'village corner' to widen running area.  Inquire to MOT why centre line is missing on this corner and if any other signage could improve situation.  Inform all crew members and log truck divers to use extra caution at the 'village corner'.  *MOT capped corner with gravel Oct 19/09.
