Hydraulic log loader climbed over a road window to finish brush piling. In attempting to lower his machine down the other side, the machine slid, then pivoted causing it to flop over on its’ side.

Learnings and Suggestions: 

Operator should not have taken a short cut, he should have walked around the windrow. He should have assessed the site to see if he would be exceeding the safe work limits on steep slopes before proceeding to cross over.
