about the search funCtions on this site

The BC Forest Safety Council website uses stand-alone search technology provided by Google, called "Google Mini." By entering questions into the search window at the top of each page on this site, our server employs Google technology to locate and retrieve information.

Here are some tips provided by Google on how to best locate information on the Council's site and for Google searches in general:

How do I find what I'm looking for with a Google search?

First, choose your keywords wisely. Select descriptive, specific words. For example, [ 2004 safety statistics ] rather than [ statistics ] or [ faller certification ] instead of [ certification ].

If you're looking for an exact match, try a phrase search. When you enclose your search query in quotation marks, you'll only get results for the exact terms you entered in the order you entered them. For example, [ "silviculture sector needs analysis " ] rather than [ silviculture sector needs analysis ].

If you're looking for something specific like flight status, local businesses, or the answer to a mathematical problem, you can learn more about Google search features at google.com/help/features

For additional tips, please see google.com/help/refinesearch or check out google.com/help/operators.

about the site's downloadable documents, reports and attachments

The Council uses Adobe Acrobat to package all of the documents and attachments available for download on this site. Adobe Acrobat or "Acrobat Reader" (available free of charge - see below) must be installed on your computer in order to read and print downloaded materials. In addition, various forms for submission to the Council and its programs are provided as PDF files, and can be completed and submitted on-line (or printed and submitted by fax or surface mail).

You can download Acrobat Reader at no charge by visiting adobe.com or by linking directly to the software download utility by clicking on the link button below.
