Council Initiatives

In addition to its major programs, the BC Forest Safety Council is also working on a number of other initiatives, based on the recommendations of the 2004 Forest Safety Task Force.

Worker wellness is one of these.  In recognition of an aging workforce, the effect of what are often difficult, physically punishing jobs and the effect of alcohol, legal and illegal drugs, stress and other factors, the Council is working with partners to develop tools and information to guide worker and employer actions.

First Nations communities are directly connected to the forests and forest industry of British Columbia. By working with First Nations' owned companies, as well as workers from First Nations in the industry the Council hopes to provide the information and training they need to stay safe on the job.
