Basic Forest Supervisor Course

Who should take this training?

A supervisor need not have the title “supervisor” to be considered one under workplace regulations. The Basic Forest Supervisor Course is for anyone who instructs, directs and controls workers in the performance of their duties in any sector of the forest industry.

The basic forest supervisor course is intended to help Supervisors to keep workers safe on the job through effective supervision. Effective supervision is a key factor in preventing painful and costly work-related incidents, injuries and fatalities.

Why is this training necessary?

Many supervisors have not received adequate health and safety training and do not fully understand their responsibilities. Providing adequate supervision is the single most important duty a supervisor has towards their workers. As a supervisor, you must meet the standard of due diligence by knowing and carrying out your responsibilities and by having the authority and ability to carry them out. These responsibilities include knowing and complying with workplace health and safety regulations, understanding the hazards of the jobs you are supervising, ensuring workers are made aware of all hazards in the area and making sure that only authorized, adequately trained workers do the work.

By protecting workers, we are also protecting their families, friends, fellow workers, management and the public from the far-reaching effects of serious injuries. We are also protecting our ability to continue doing business.
