If a faller is eligible for certification, the QST provides a signed copy of the Faller’s log book and completes certification details, including any restrictions or limitations, on page 1 of the log book. The QST also documents and signs the conditions in which the faller was evaluated including timber type and terrain in the log book. The QST explains the use of the log book to the faller and advises that a wallet card and certificate will be issued. The Faller is required to keep the log book up to date and available at the worksite at all times.
WorkSafeBC officers and forestry employers are required to request and review a faller’s log book ensuring that it is current and signed by a QST. If there are any discrepancies or concerns with the log book, the officer or employer will contact the FSC PG office to verify certification details.
Replacement Log Books
All registered Certified Fallers who request an additional log book to replace a filled, lost or destroyed book can receive a new one, by request, at no charge as an annual membership benefit. To receive a new log book, fallers must send a written and signed request to the BC Forest Safety Council (FSC) office. The FSC office will authorize the issuance of and “sign” the new book on behalf of the signing QSTs by stamping “replacement” in the book. CLICK HERE to download the Log Book Replacement Request Form, which can be submitted electronically, by fax or by surface mail.
Fallers requiring more than one replacement log book in a calendar year will be charged $25.
